Kuta, located in southern Bali, is one of Bali's first, and best-loved, tourist destinations, extremely convenient to the Ngurah Rai International Airport. Visitors will find themselves spoiled for choice of things to do, but here are some of the most popular options.

Kuta Beach is famous worldwide, frequented by many top Australian surfers, and is a great place to take surfing lessons if you'd like to get into the sport. Even if surfing isn't your thing, Kuta Beach offers a full range of activities, including swimming, sunning, water sports, and even bungee jumping. Be sure to stay for the evening, because Kuta is famous for spectacular sunsets. If you'd like to get into the water, but you're not an ocean swimmer, Kuta is also home to the Waterbom Park, which offers water slides and other rides for everyone from kids to adults.

Because Kuta is so developed, home to some of Bali's best hotels, it has also become a hotspot for Bali's shopping and nightlife. If you go on vacation to shop, Kuta will be able to satisfy you, whether you're looking for deals on name-brand products such as Reebok, Hugo Boss, or Nike in Kuta Square, or local crafts in the Kuta Art Market. Kuta is also home to hundreds of restaurants, bars, discos, and clubs large and small, including such hot spots as the Hard Rock Cafe, Peanuts Discotheque, and Ku De Ta.

Kuta's central location also makes it a great base for exploring Bali's countryside. Many tour operators in the city offer day trips out to nearby villages to experience native culture or watch temple festivals, or to visit local wildlife preserves such as Ubud Elephant Park. From the nearby port of Benoa, the famous Bali Hai yachts offer both day cruises to other islands, as well as romantic dinner cruises.
